Pocket Star Books (Simon & Schuster)

When Sam Sinclair’s self-made millionaire grandfather sends Willa Kent, a woman none of the three Sinclair brothers have even heard of, as his proxy to an ultra-important meeting of the Sinclair shipping company, most people would think the old man had lost his marbles. But Sam knows his grandfather too well. For some reason, the wily old man has decided that one of his three grandsons should marry Willa, and this is his way of trying to force the issue….

So Willa and Sam team up on what seems like a wild-goose chase to find some loophole in Grandfather Sinclair’s crazy notion. But as Sam crews Willa’s yacht en route to Maine, he finds to his surprise that his grandfather’s offbeat scheme is growing more attractive by the moment. Willa is smart, beautiful…and has a wild streak that sends them soaring together above the clouds.

But Willa isn’t about to let Sam fly away with her heart until she knows his true motives. If the man wants to marry for money, then the woman in her says that first he must fall in love.

I found The Man Must Marry to be a delightful story of love and life, appearances and responsibility, guilt and death It’s the story of Abraham Sinclair and his matchmaking even from the grave. Abraham runs away to Maine where he meets and convinces Willamina Kent to vote his shares in his company, Tidewater by proxy for him. Before she is able to decide on how to vote, Abraham dies and his will turns everything and everyone upside down.

In the 24th century, time travel is no longer just a flight of fancy. Tourists, historians, and criminals can leap through time at will. To police the time jumpers, the Temporal Enforcement Agency has established a precinct in time, tucked away in the Georgia mountains.

Galar Arvid, a genetically altered Warlord and agent, has been sent back to 2008 to save a pretty Atlanta artist from a Xeran time traveler who intends to kill her for profit. What Galar doesn’t count on is the powerful desire Jessica Kelly ignites in him. But could a romance between them ever work? A three-hundred-year chasm separates them and, even if they dart through time, there’s still a maniacal killer on their tail…

Warrior is a fascinating look at time jumping and Time Enforcers. It opens a new series called Time Hunters that is spun off of the book Jane’s Warrior. There is so much going on in this book that I found I had to concentrate to get all the different characters, aliens and worlds set straight in my mind. This was easily accomplished as I found the descriptions of the worlds and the characters are very detailed and I could picture everything clearly in my mind. I really enjoyed this Sci-Fi/romance.

Though May Northcott’s heart belongs to Gabriel Tauhou, leader of the silver dragons, being stuck in Abaddon has significantly cooled down her love life–especially since a demon lord is trying to woo her. So far, May has resisted his efforts, but it’s getting increasingly harder to thwart disaster.

So May is shocked when Gabriel encourages her to give in to the demon prince. But her fire-breathing boyfriend has an ulterior motive. Since May was created in the mortal world, her surrender would give her master access to that world, where he would lose most of his powers.

It looks as though May will have to barter to gain her freedom and fulfill her destiny by Gabriel’s side. But will a deal with the devil make life heaven or hell?

I just loved this second story of the silver dragons. There are demons, dragons and a doppelganger along with guardians, naiads and Neptune. There are so many things going on in this story including murder, I was unable to put the book down until I was done. This I the sixth book in the Aisling Grey/Dragon Series. You don’t have to read previous books to understand the story but after enjoying this one, a reader may want to savor previous stories.

Samantha Willan is a workaholic lawyer. She’s grateful for some rest and relaxation in cottage country, and after a recent breakup she wants to stay as far away from romance as possible. Then she meets her irresistible new neighbor. There’s something strange and mysterious about his eyes. Is it just her imagination, or are they locked on her neck?

Garrett Mortimer is a rogue hunter. His last assignment united Lucian Argeneau with his lifemate, and Mortimer is hoping this one will be less . . . adventurous. He’s here to track down a reported rogue, but fun in the sun is every bloodsucker’s nightmare. Worse, he can’t seem to get his mind off Samantha, especially when he spies her skinny-dipping in the lake. After eight hundred years as a bachelor, is he ready to turn a volatile attraction into a lasting love affair?

The Rogue Hunter is number ten in The Argeneau Series of Books by Ms. Sands. We have the character of Decker Argeneau Pinns, the son of Martine, who with Lucian Argeneau, as their boss, adds to the family connection. Rogue hunters investigate immortals who break council laws and bring them to justice if they are rogue vampires.

Harrigan Mahoney’s assignment was clear: travel to Wyoming, find runaway Ella Carson, and escort her to Philadelphia – by force if necessary. A simple task, made devilishly complicated by Ella’s wit, beauty, and spirited determination to outfox him at every turn.

Ella is no stranger to bad luck, but it seems wholly unfair that the man hired to drag her back to her greedy relatives should be the most intriguing male she ever set eyes on. The tall, dashing Irishman takes no pains to hide his attraction to Ella, but it is her overpowering desire for him that presents the greatest danger…

Now, journeying together through and unyielding land, their battle of wills becomes an adventure in seduction. One kiss is all it takes to unleash a hunger both fierce and foolhardy, for Ella’s very life depends upon her escape from the man who could capture her heart forever…

Wild Roses was re-released in August 2008 and I for one am glad that it was since I never had the opportunity to read it back in June of 1997. I found it to be a very cute western in the style I have come to expect from Ms. Howell.

Warmer Weather

It’s finally getting a little warmer here. The snow melted. I got to thinking about hot places and beaches. I thought I’d share a few hunks that helped keep me hot in the cold winter.men_17

Getting Naked At The Hilton by Dee Dawning

Meeting in a Las Vegas bar and grill, Rachel Cooke, is extremely attracted to the handsome Scott Rader, as he is her. As the night moves on their attraction grows. Rachel takes Scott up on a casual remark he makes that like her, he too, is only interested in getting to know her and if she happened to be sitting naked next to him, he wouldn’t lay a hand on her.

This leads them to spend a sexless night, fully naked in her Hilton hotel suite, a test of his resolve and character. In reality, Scott has no idea of the sexual adventuress that lies beneath Rachel’s demur, delightfully perky persona and after a wet hot passionate interlude in the shower, the following morning, all hell breaks loose and they wind up making love everywhere. Even in the depths of Hoover Dam.

I found Getting Naked At The Hilton to be a sizzling hot story of not just lust and greed but of love and family. Yes, the love scenes are hot enough to burn down a hotel but they are also loving and tender. There is a very good story in this book that had me contemplating reverse prejudices, trophy women, show business and the recording industry.

Escape the routine life her family mapped out for her, Beth Philips joins an archaeological dig with her long-time friend, Charles. Tfor such adventurers, he desert city of Bhamjran is perfect – especially when it comes to exploring forbidden appetites like Charles’s shameful desire for a Yamish demon. And as he and Beth are about to learn, some Yama find humans equally irresistible.

Once a sexual captive, Prince Pahndir now exploits his talents as proprietor of the most infamous and successful brothel in Bhamjran. Not content with simply selling fantasy to others, he’s long dreamed of finding his own erotic fulfillment. He believes these two young humans may hold the key to answering his secret demon needs. Soon Beth and Charles are ushered into a passionate triangle that redefines the limits of pleasure – and unexpectedly challenges the meaning of love.

I loved Demon’s Fire. It took me into Ms. Holly’s Yamish world, a world that I thought of as Earth in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s with superior beings who would be a little more advanced than us with our technology in Victorian Era Earth. The setting takes place in the city of Bhamjran and around the archaeological site of Hhamoun and the tomb of Tou-Hhamoun.

A Fatal Escape … It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombia drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong…and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.

A Dangerous Desire … Bella’s mourned her husband’s death for three long years. But she has no idea he’s still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is…even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan’s arms once more?

This is the seventh story in the Tempting SEALS series. I just have to say that they just keep getting better and hotter. I learned a little about Nathan in previous books. All of the books are related and you feel as if you never left when you pick one up but you can read the stories independently. I am happy to finally hear Nathan’s story.

Toni Duncan’s Christmas Wish List

1 Springing my best friend from the psych ward.

2 Living somewhere that doesn’t have coffins in the basement. Occupied coffins.

3 Finding Mr. Right. Please make him tall, dark, handsome, and ALIVE.

This Christmas isn’t so merry for Toni. Her best friend’s been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist. So she’s taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she’s bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.

Although Ian’s nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk. How can a dead man be so damn sexy?  Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right?  One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion—and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe . . .

All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire is the fifth book in Ms. Sparks Love at Stake series and I for one am glad that it has finally arrived. I love the characters and can’t wait to find out more about each and every one of them.
